Fascination “Christmas Village” … throughout the year!
Käthe Wohlfahrt’s Christmas Village is located in the center of the romantic medieval town of Rothenburg, just off the Market Square. In Käthe Wohlfahrt’s “Christmas Village” you will find the largest selection of German Christmas decorations WORLDWIDE! And we’re open all year-round!
“You do have a lovely store!”, “It’s incredible!”, “I’ve never seen anything like it!”… are just some of the comments we hear when our customers walk through the store. An area of over 16,000 sq. ft. is used to display items of almost every type of traditional German Christmas like Pyramids, Nutcrackers, Incense Smokers, Schwibbogen, Ornaments of Glass, Wood and Pewter, Table Linens and
But what makes them so enthusiastic about a shop? What attractions does Käthe Wohlfahrt’s Christmas Village have to offer? In the doorway “guarding” the Christmas Village is a giant nutcracker, Christian I. Posing for photographs with Christian I is one of the favorite pastimes, especially for families with children. Upon entering the Christmas Village, you are immediately “enveloped in Christmas” by the sights and sounds of the shop. The heart of the village is designed like a Franconian village with snow covered houses, thousands of twinkling stars and winding cobble stone “streets”. A 16 ft. tall revolving white Christmas tree, decorated with over 1,000 glass balls and 12.500 sparkling lights, draws the immediate admiration of all who enter. Another giant Nutcracker, the 12 ft. tall Christian II, stands at attention to greet all visitors.
An 18 ft. tall revolving Christmas Pyramid, weighing over 2 metric tons, is another marvel of admiration. Over three miles of Christmas garland and over 122.000 artificial lights have been used to decorate the Christmas Village.
Parked directly in front of the “Weihnachtsdorf”, you will find the Käthe Wohlfahrt Gift Express, a popular photo motif. People from all over the world take pictures of this colorful bus to take home as an original souvenir from their visit at Käthe Wohlfahrt’s.
